The UAE Tax Calendar for Q4 2026: Dates Finance Teams Cannot Miss
The final quarter of 2026 is unusually crowded for UAE finance teams. Between recurring VAT deadlines, one of the biggest e-invoicing milestones in the programme’s short history, and a corporate tax filing window for March year-end businesses, the calendar between October and December carries more compliance weight than any quarter since VAT arrived. Here is what is actually due, and when.
28 October: the Q3 VAT deadline
UAE VAT returns and payments are due within 28 days of the end of the tax period. For quarterly filers on standard calendar quarters, that makes 28 October 2026 the deadline for the July to September return, with the corresponding payment due on the same date. Monthly filers face the same 28-day rhythm every month, so September returns also fall due on 28 October. The Federal Tax Authority publishes return deadlines through EmaraTax, and the safest practice is to treat the deadline as roughly a week earlier than it really is, because payment must clear by the due date, not merely be initiated.
30 October: the ASP appointment deadline
Businesses in the first phase of the e-invoicing programme, broadly those with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more, must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026, ahead of mandatory go-live on 1 January 2027. If that deadline still sits open in your organisation, it is now a matter of days, not months, and procurement sign-off, ERP integration scoping and data readiness work all have to happen in parallel.
28 November and 28 December: the monthly rhythm continues
Monthly VAT filers should have 28 November (October period) and 28 December (November period) pencilled in now. These dates collide with year-end close preparation, audit fieldwork and holiday staffing gaps, which is precisely when filing discipline slips. Businesses that reconcile input and output VAT as part of the monthly close, rather than in a scramble in the final week, consistently file cleaner returns with fewer post-filing corrections.
31 December: corporate tax returns for March year-end businesses
For businesses with a 31 March 2026 financial year-end, the corporate tax return and payment deadline is 31 December 2026, nine months after the period end. This is the quarter’s other hard stop. Unlike VAT, corporate tax returns draw on the full accounting cycle: audited or audit-ready financial statements, transfer pricing documentation where thresholds apply, the disclosure form, and reconciliation between accounting profit and taxable income. March year-end filers have watched December year-end businesses go through this in September, and the lessons transfer directly: the return fails at the evidence stage more often than at the computation stage.
Late corporate tax filing attracts an administrative penalty of AED 10,000 for a first occurrence, and unpaid tax accrues additional percentage-based penalties, so a missed date costs real money even when the underlying tax position is modest.
1 January 2027: the date that makes Q4 a project
E-invoicing goes live for phase 1 businesses on 1 January 2027. Nothing is “due” on that date in the filing sense, but it turns the fourth quarter into an implementation project: invoice format changes, ERP and ASP integration testing, customer master data clean-up, and staff training all have to be substantially complete before the switch flips. Businesses that defer this work into December will discover that integration testing does not compress well.
A practical way to run the quarter
Three habits make this calendar survivable. First, put every applicable date into a single owned calendar, with a named person accountable for each, rather than relying on the finance team’s collective memory. Second, separate the VAT rhythm (monthly, mechanical) from the one-off events (ASP appointment, corporate tax filing, e-invoicing readiness), which need project plans rather than reminders. Third, verify your own deadlines through EmaraTax and the Ministry of Finance e-invoicing portal, because thresholds, phases and dates shift as the programme matures, and official sources always outrank commentary, including this article.
Q4 2026 rewards teams that start in October. The deadlines are close together, but they are known now, and every one of them can be met with a plan that begins this week.
